Issue with wipers on VW Golf

Wondering if anyone has experienced an issue with the driver's wiper on a VW Golf - it overruns the actual glass section of the windscreen and hits off the side pillar.

It obviously requires some adjustment - does anyone here know if this is a simple adjustment or something that will have to be attended to by the garage?

When the wiper is parked, is there room for it to park further down towards base of screen?
If so, you simply need to remove arm from spindle (where wiper attaches to car) and position it so that it parks at base of screen properly.
If that is not the problem, you could have wear in the linkage that could cause this but I doubt it.

Out of curiosoty was the windscreen replaced at any stage . They will take off the wiper arms doing this and it may have been put back slightly incorrect

This happened to me when i got my windscreen replaced.
My car is a ford but it was an easy fix, just had to loosen the arm and adjust/position then tighten untill i got the correct position.

Thanks for your responses here - there is indeed some room for the wiper to be parked further down towards the base of the screen. The windscreen was not replaced at any stage.

Thanks for that - I will wait until I am at the garage in the near future and will have them adjust it, it is only marginally brushing off the rubber seal attached to the side pillar - I am sure it will only take a few minutes. I do not have alot of tools in my kit in any event.

One socket or spanner would likely do the job. Still a garage will sort it for next to nothing.
