I am thinking of booking a 'deep' scale and polish and a routine oral examine, I haven't been to the dentist in 8 years! And was only ever at a dentist once in my life, my teeth have alot of staining (smoking, etc) and a fue minor chips to my back/side of teeth?.. Also my gums bleeding a good bit to so will I HAVE to take out my tongue piercing for this? This really putting me off going cause of lecture and piercing closing etc,? Will the be able do this with me keeping the piercing in?

Tongue piercing are not great for your teeth but generally they dont need to be taken out except for a few minutes for a certain type of X-ray.

Few dentists lecture patients, most just give advice.
