Carpet stairs / timber on landing

Hi guys Thinking of putting carpet on a stairs and putting dark timber floor on the landing . Will this work ? I have only ever seen carpet on the stairs and landing but can you use both ?

I don't see why you couldn't use both. Might look best if the colour of the timber floor is the same 'strength' as that of the carpet so there isn't a huge visual contrast. Would you consider fitting a runner instead of a carpet edge to edge?
