Golf Question

    Hi Guys,
Am toying with the idea of buying an 08-09 Golf 2.0tdi, I think its the 130bhp version but after driving it, it's just not as lively as I want it to be, Ive since driven a 170bhp version and it was more what i was looking for,
Question Is, Is there much difference in the two cars? or is just a remap? And if so, is it possible to remap the 130 to 170 or so? Would it be hard on the internals?
    Thanks

Not sure which version you were driving as there were different type 2.0 tdi engines in the Golf depending on the model. A 2008 Golf would have been the MkV which had the older PD 2.0 TDi engines with 140bhp and 170bhp. A 2009 Golf could be the newer MkVI which had the newer CR 2.0 TDi engines with 110bhp, 140bhp or 170bhp. The 110bhp version was only a stop gap until the new 1.6 TDi arrived in 2010. It could have been the 110bhp version you test drove and found underwhelming.

I had the 2.0 CR TDi 140bhp in a Passat CC and had it remapped to 177bhp which transformed the performance, never had any reliability issues with it after the remap either. In the smaller and lighter Golf similar power should make it fairly brisk.
