VRT export supporting documents

I want to export my car to the UK and have had the examination completed showing the vrt rebate due.

I'm from Northern Ireland originally and I'd like to sell it to a family member who lives there. However to prove export from the State I need supporting documents, one of the following:
    Shipping details
    Sales invoices
    Bill of lading
    Commercial invoices

If I sell the car to a family member can I just make up my own sales invoice? I imagine that Revenue would be nonplused with a home made sales receipt?

The car was a UK import so would be going back home so to speak.

Any help welcome before I call Revenue on Monday, thanks.

Id say a receipt for the sale amount with your name and buyers name and address.
You have to prove permanent export so I was under the impression that you would need evidence of it being reregistered in UK before the rebate would be forthcoming.

Shipping details - bring them a receipt for petrol and statement that you drove a car to NI yourself (signed and dated by you)

Sales invoice - just issue a receipt that you sold car to someone with your, theirs and car's details.

Also remember that you will need confirmation of registration of the vehicle in NI - so once it has V5CNI (or whatever it's called there) you will need to forward copy of this to revenue.

Thanks. I hope it is that simple, I really do! It's an English car and I actually have the original V5 registration certificate, so it should be very straightforward to re-register it.

    Hmm that's interesting.
They should have taken you V5C document when you were registering car in Ireland.

Sorry, just realised I don't have the full v5, only the bits for selling the car to a dealer and the one with the new keepers details. There are despatch codes on these parts.

As long as you didn't get a vrt exemption when you brought the car in.......

Someone else brought it in and paid vrt. I went to the test centre for a vrt export appointment and was given a rebate figure.
