Hope you can help me? I have my car booked into a garage, well more so agreed to carry out some repairs, Mainly routine stuff.
This was about 3 weeks still waiting on them to get back to me. In the meantime I am beginning to get a feeling of the car that something isn't right with the gearbox. As the car is old and high mileage, I am now considering changing my plan to keep my car and take advantage of the scrappage deals out there.

My question is, will the garage be able to return the parts (headlamps, fanbelts, track rods etc. )they may have ordered for my car, or would they be stuck with these parts.

Don't want to leave them shafted.

run of the mill stuff they can return, but more obscure items they may be stuck with. What you've listed sounds fine. If your booking is more than a day or two away, chances are they haven't even ordered them yet. Most stuff is available at 24 hours notice.

Thanks , I asked them to do the work about 3 weeks ago and they haven't got all the parts in. I think they were struggling to get the headlights. I will give them a call and let them know this morning. Feel bad but can't sink endless sums of money into an old car just to keep them from been upset.

Ring them ASAP, before they do manage to get hold of the headlights, chances are they will not be returnable.

Fan belts and track rod ends should be fine but it all depends on the specific parts and where they get them.
