Just purchased a Belkin Ac1900 from Amazon. was looking to have a dual band wireless router with gigabit ports and this fits the bill. Set up was 5 mins with a firmware upgrade. set the cisco 3925 into bridge mode. and the speed increase was instant.

More specs below but for the price and ease of use i think its a great deal. Click here

Get outstanding wireless speed and coverage with the Belkin AC 1800 Wi-Fi Dual-Band AC+ Gigabit Router. Using dual-band AC+ technology, the router achieves speeds of up to 4.3 times faster than N technology* for fast downloads and hiccup-free HD streaming on multiple devices. Up to 4.3 Times Faster than N Technology

With faster wireless technology, everyone in the family will be able to stream HD movies and play multi-player games on their tablets, notebooks, and desktops, no matter where they are in the house.

The AC 1800 router employs AC wireless technology, which runs on both the 5 GHz "media" band and the 2.4 GHz "standard" band. The media band provides up to 1.3 Gbps while the standard band offers up to 300 Mbps**. This adds up to a 4.3 times increase in speed when compared to N technology.

Enjoy Expanded Wi-Fi Coverage with Strong Signal

Using MultiBeam antenna technology, the AC 1800 lets you connect to the Internet on multiple computers or mobile devices from virtually anywhere in your home. By minimising dead spots, the technology ensures a strong signal for bandwidth-intensive activities -- even if you're accessing the Internet at a great distance from the router itself. You can stream HD video downstairs while your roommates or family members play online games upstairs.

Quick and Easy Installation with Simple Start App

Belkin's Simple Start browser-based set-up interface makes installation painless and eliminates the need for installation CDs. Use your tablet, smartphone, or computer -- whichever you prefer -- to set-up your router.

With Simple Start, you'll have one-click access to the router dashboard where you can easily configure the media server, turn on parental controls, or troubleshoot the router.

Reliable HD Streaming with IntelliStream QoS

The AC 1800 is ideal for streaming high-definition video to tablets, smartphones, and computers through services such as Hulu Plus and Vudu HD Movies. Coupled with IntelliStream QoS (quality of service), which automatically prioritises gaming and video streams, you'll enjoy a smooth, uninterrupted experience no matter where you are in your home.

Compatible with N and G Technology

You won't have to worry about compatibility, as the AC 1800 is backward compatible with N and G technology, so all your older computers and wireless devices will work with it.

    Parental Control Powered by Norton

Protect your entire network with Parental Control, powered by Norton. Block unwanted content to all your devices automatically with this customizable and easy-to-use software.

Simplified Media Sharing with Media Server by myTwonky

Media Server by myTwonky is ideal for anyone who stores a large digital library of movies, photos, or music on a USB thumb drive or hard drive. Simply plug your drive in to the router's USB port and use the Media Server by myTwonky to stream media to multiple DLNA-enabled devices like your iPhone, iPad, Blu-ray player, Smart TV, or game console.

USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet Ports

The AC 1800 features 2 high-speed USB 2.0 ports that allow you to connect an external USB storage device for networked storage. You can also connect a USB printer for wireless printing that everyone on the network can share. And for those who don't mind plugging in a cable, the AC 1800 router has 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports for maximum network speed and reliability.

*Up to 4.3 times faster physical data rate when compared to 802.11n Wi-Fi routers using 2 antennas to transmit and receive data. Actual speeds will vary depending on a number of factors. In order to achieve the best performance, router must be used with a compatible wireless device.
**The standard transmission rates -- 300 Mbps (for 2.4 GHz), 300 Mbps or 1.3 Gbps (for 5 GHz), 54 Mbps, and 11 Mbps -- are the physical data rates. Actual data throughput will be lower and may depend on the mix of wireless products used.

The biggest con in that review is the price. At €60 you are getting a very nice router.

For the price it's hard to knock it. Am waiting for the equivalent Asus router to be at a discount and then I will upgrade from my trusty Netgear Dualband router which has been running perfect for 2 years.

Same here. It's cheap. But not a fan of Belkin. If it had aerials I might go for it. Can it be used as a repeater, extender.

to use this I need to keep the Zyxel that eircom gave me and put it in Bridging mode and then connect the Belkin up to that using ethernet cable?

yes - will only take a few mins to set up - 3 mins for firmware update. add password to admin console though... made a massive difference to my speed on all devices.

Going by this thread, my vodafone fibre modem + router is pretty bad. In fairness, that has been one of the better modems from simple wifi connectivity point of view so far (compared to sky, older vodafone and ancient BT Prestige modem etc).

The issues I have at the moment with Vodafone router is that I am only getting 5 mbps internal transfer speed over wifi and 11 mbps if wired (bewteen laptop & microserver). If I stream more than 2 devices at the same time, LG tv drops out / disconnects.

Does these symptoms sound like an issue this Belkin router could fix?

I've only ever used the UPC router I've been given. Does something like this provide a noticeable difference?

Depends. The signal should be better, and if you have an AC capable device, you should get faster wifi speeds, that is if you're on one of UPCs faster packages (100Mb+). Most people don't get the full speed over wifi, with 802.11ac you will.

For me using my own cheap N router gave a much more reliable signal. The UPC seemed to drop a lot at random. Range is better too. Though I think I need something better with decent aerials to hit the dead spots in my house.
