Electricity in my name after Grandmother passed away

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, mods please feel free to move!

My grandmother passed away about 18 months and for whatever reasons my mother never notified the ESB. Bills have been sent out in my grandmothers name and about 300 euro is owed on the account. Electricity was never cut off.

I now want to move in to the house (it was vacant since she passed) and want transfer the ESB account into my name. Will I be liable for the big bill? Is it an easy process to transfer over?

    Thanks.

If you take over her account, yes, but IIRC if you create a new account, no.

The bill should have been discharged from the estate together with all bills in your grandmothers name before probate was completed.
