I would agree with the above. You could buy a new octavia or superb in that budget but I would look for a demonstrator or something up to 2 years old

Whatever you buy with doing 60kms a year the car will be worth about 40% of it's purchase price in 3 years time, the more you shell out the more you lose.

You might want the 2.of engine but something like this has loads of spec and good value now. About 12 grand off new

    Great spec.

    Great spec.

Just noticed the mileage is probably a bit high though

Newly launched new Passat should keep it's resale value well enough even with big mileage on it and it will still be a current model:

Would go for the 2.0 litre over the 1.6 litre though if your budget can stretch to it.

Skoda Superb is about to be replaced by a new model so in a few years with hefty mileage on it I cannot seen it holding it's value better than a new shape Passat.

Of course there is the valid argument that if you buy a Superb substantially cheaper to begin with now then it does mitigate a bit against the poorer resale value down the road. It's swings and roundabouts really.

Doing 50-60k per annum, I'd be looking at reliability first and last ahead of resale values.

Mazda 6 would tick all the boxes for me, reliability, comfort, spec, styling etc
Worked for company who had big diesel fuel injection workshop, never once saw a Mazda with problems, lots of Ford, VW, Toyota, Opel, Renault.

Keep it well maintained with detailed service/repair record and resale will be much easier

    Seriously?

Mazda, diesel and reliability do not in together in the same sentence.

Couple of weeks ago, we sold a customer's 07 Superb with 350,000Km and still got 2,500. Old models still holding value so wouldn't be overly concerned about current model values when the new one is launched. Fantastic seats as well go the current Superb.
