Missing diamond! :(

Hi guys, just looking for a bit of advice here. We got engaged just over 6 months ago and bought a beautiful ring from a local jeweller with 1 main diamond and 4 tiny diamonds on the shoulders. I have just noticed that 1 of the small stones is missing.... I had it cleaned, rodium plated and checked 3 weeks.

I will return to the jewellers in the morning but I know I will be really nervous of loosing the stones again even if they are replaced...

What would you do? Would you have it repaired and pray it dosnt happen again or would you look for a replacement/refund?

Same thing happened to me, but it was the only stone in my engagement ring. Luckily I managed to find the stone and they reset it and it's been fine since. Now I don't know if the size of the stone makes a difference but it's worth a go I think.

I've searched and searched all of the usual places but no luck! It's so small!! I just don't know whether to ask for it to be fixed or to get a new ring! I'm kind of attached to this one now but it makes me nervous!!!

I'd ask them to replace it and see what they can offer. You've not had it that long after all.

A small stone shouldn't be expensive to replace, however since the ring is new and was recently checked I wouldn't expect to pay for it either.

If it was re sized at all and they didn't tighten it up it can make the settings loose. With it being checked so recently I'd expect not to pay.

I know with my ring I was told they guarantee it for life, so if a stone was lost they would replace it free of charge. I would insist that it was replaced free of charge.

Was the ring re-sized to fit you? If so then that may be the reason it fell out. Many rings are not meant to be re-sized and doing so loosens the diamonds.
