Manual tune RTE1

I have a synaps THD-2858 but unable to get it to pick up RTE 1. It finds RTE2/TV3/ETC., but never gets RTE1.

Also Ireland is not an option in the automatic scan menu, so I have tried several other countries but to no avail, it always skips RTE1. I wonder is it possible the box is just incompatible with saorview, or can RTE1 be tuned in automatically, does anyone know?

RTE 1 is on mux2, the others are on mux1. Check out saorview.ie to find you local transmitter and try to tune in the mux2 frequency.

It isn't Saorview approved but, it should be able to tune all the channels, given a good enough signal.

I presume it's finding a pile of 'no information' slots: did you look down through these to see if RTE1, RTE1 +1/RTE jr., & UTV Ireland show up?

Thanks for the suggestions guys, but no joy.

I've looked up the frequency for my area and it says RTE 1 should be on 506 Mhz. However when i try to enter 506, it only allows certain increments to be entered and always skips over 506!

    Is there an auto-tune option?

yes, auto tune also skips 506 Mhz. I suspect that because there is no Ireland region to pick in the menu, the frequency spacing is wrong. I tried a few different countries without success - I wonder what countries might have same frequency layout as Ireland?

The same channels are used probably all over Europe, at least. What country setting are you using?

506 mHz is channel 25: didn't you mention the Castlebar transmitter in another thread? Are you getting RTE2 etc. on 482 mHz (ch. 22)?

I often use countries such as Sweden when no Ireland is present, but I wonder is it simply not finding the frequency you require due to a badly aligned aerial, the signal been too weak for it to lock onto..

If it's skipping over 506 MHz then most likely the signal isn't good enough for the receiver to lock onto, what type of aerial setup are you using?

The frequency plan is the same for Europe/Africa/Middle East (ITU Region 1), any receiver sold in this region will scan the full band 470 to 790/862, so that's not your problem.
