    Hi all,

Do you know if i can get echocardiography, stress ecg and cardiac ct scan in a public hospital?
I was in beacon today and i litterally escaped paying only the visit (175€ wasted) when i knew that the price for all 3 exams is about 1000€!
I have a referral from my GP. Am I entitled to any free or low cost service in public hospital?
talking about Cardiac ct scan, is maybe recommended not to do it unless there is some serious issue? I feel good but since i have significant family history i want a comprehensive screening. maybe is too early and even if i do the screening now in 10 years the situation can change and my test was just time/money wasted? I am 29.

    Tnx

You can be referred to a public hospital, long wait though and you can't pick and choose the investigations they would be decided by the cardiologist.

Thanks. What would be the cost in that case?

There wouldn't be one if you were a public patient for them, the wait would be the downside for the stress test and other scans...echo shouldn't be too long. I know some hospitals will accept GP referrals for echos and Holters, I'd imagine the rest are consultant only.
