Today my bichon frise was barking at my uncle and he turned around and gave her the hardest kick he could. He kicked her in the chest and as a result was thrown against the leg of a near by chair. She was crying and yelping so bad buy she calmed down and is not in any pain now. My problem is I don't know what I can do about this. Can I report this to the guards and get him charged I was told the guards won't take this seriously and it wud just make things worse in an already broken family. But I can't let this pass without knowing what my options are my poor dog did nothing to deserve this and my heart is broken for her

Animal cruelty is illegal... ISPCA should be able to help you out.

Was it at your house or his?

did you confront your uncle there and then? unless there is hurt on your dog, i dunno if anything can be done. maybe take her to the vet, and get him to pay for the bill

If you report and the guards do nothing about it then shame on them. There really isn't much else you can do being the owner. If you really intend to report them take them to the vet so they can assess the injuries and you can take that report to them as well.

I didn't get a chance to say anything apart from calling him an prick cos the coward walked out the door, he doesn't talk to me anyways and if I produced a vet bill to him he'd laugh at me I'm Goin to bring her tomorrow to the vet anyways just to make sure she's OK

It was in my grandmother's house

was in he in your house? if he was there uninvited…he could be "trespassing" ;) see who's laughing then when he gets a nice letter from your solicitor, see if he will be laughing then.

i wouldn't let him get away with it.

thats a stinker of a situation,
don't allow him anywhere near the dog again,
do get a full vets exam, send him the bill

    good luck

Don't let him near you or your dog again. If anyone kicked one of my dogs they wouldn't be using that leg again for a very long time.

I hope you brought the dog to the vet even just for peace of mind that there is no serious damage.

I would go to your local Garda Station and say that you wish to report a crime & make a statement. If the Guards, in any way, were dismissive I would insist on speaking to a senior officer. If he didn't treat it seriously then I would report him to the Garda Ombudsman.

I would also get the vet to give you a simple letter confirming that you bought the dog for treatment & any injuries or treatment given.

This man is clearly capable of violence & next time it could be even worse.

I would also report the matter to the ISPCA & tell them that you have given a statement to the Guards.
