Hey has anyone received information back from the Department on the declaration form so your nominated adviser can submit your GLAS application

I sent mine away two weeks ago and rang today and the woman on the phone couldn't tell me if my application was received or not. She said there was a backlog and to ring back Monday

Same here, no response yet either, rang up, but only get vexed. a lot of lads will have to use a different Glas advisor from normal advisors, and there's no tracking of documents that I know of in there, which is pretty poor for a government department, imo, after scandels where ministers in other departments "never got the letter".
They cant even tell ya when you will have an answer-very poor-maybe resources related, no idea.

What's the rationale behind having to pay the €400 or so up front with no guarantee of being accepted? There appears to be a lot of outlay with no transparency around what your payments per annum would be.

Would u do work for someone and not expect to be paid??? Thats a bit of a stupid comment in my opinion!!! It's a voluntary scheme, you don't have to join it!

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick lad. I'm not the type of person that walks into paddy powers and puts €400 on a horse that 'might' win me €3000.

I made this point on another thread ,is the upfront payment a means to offset some of the scheme cost if limited numbers are accepted.

I can't see how it would offset the scheme cost but I'd say the first payment will be handy money for the planners if the farmer doesn't get accepted

So after 3 weeks my GLAS authorisation form has been found after my adviser sorted it out. He had to contact the department as they said I wasn't eligible for GLAS to me on the phone.

I can see Portlaoise struggling severely in the next few weeks to cope

Main reason I expect is alot of advisors have got caught by lads in the past getting work done and no payment later on - 'I'll pay you when I get paid'. Most farmers are genuine, but there are obviously some out there that are happy to let someone hanging!
