Hand brake unbalanced ?

    Hey Pep's,

    I put the car through the NCT and the only thing it failed on was the hand brake is unbalanced ?, is this a big job to fix (I hope not, retest is this Friday)

    I think I failed on that last year and turned out the brake pads were worn on one side more than the other, replaced them and all fine. Should be able to visually see if one side is different.

    Thats what I would have thought but the brake imbalance is perfect on the NCT test. Haven't changed the pads since, may inspect them next time I think of it.

    You cant fix an imbalance by adjusting the nut, thats only to control the travel of the handbrake lever. If the brakes are imbalanced its usually worn brake shoes/ drums/ incorrectly adjusted shoes(assuming drums) or seized caliper/bad auto adjuster on the cable(assuming discs)
