    Hi All,

Jus wondering does anyone know if there is a GP in the Limerick area that has a scanner within their practice? Would be great peace of mind during pregnancy, to add to the scheduled scans within maternity system.

    Thanks.

Alex Stafford has a clinic up by the Crescent who will do a scan for you.

Would be rare to see a sonographer employed within a GP practice, particularly with the very severe financial pressure most are under now. Go to Alex Stafford's place. And ultimately, follow your doctor's advice - he/she is best placed to guide you through your maternity care. Maternity care is ranked very high in this country, so do not unnecessarily worry - if you need scans, you'll get scans. And at very competitive and accessible price points.

I would not agree with the last poster. Maternity care in this country is far inferior to countries like Poland regarding scans and tests. (I'm Irish). The Polish system scan monthly and do viral and bacterial tests monthly for example.
There is a Polish clinic beside Barringtons (Bioforce) which offer scans at any stage without a doctors referral which are far cheaper than the Irish places..And they do not require a doctors referral.
The consultant is Polish but picked up something on one of our scans (not serious)which our Irish consultant dismissed but proved to be correct.

If you want to debate the strengths or weaknesses of the Irish medical system or compare it to another please find the relevant forum, this forum is for discussing Limerick issues.
