Portable Flash suggestions? (Godox / Jinbei etc)

    Hi all,

I'm looking to get a portable flash with a dedicated power pack to accompany it. I know Paul C Buff (Einstiens/Alien Bees) are no longer sold in Europe, so I'm looking for an alternative. I've read great things about Godox's and Jinbei's, but I'm wondering if there are any alternatives that I may have missed.

My budget is 500, so Quadras etc aren't a goer with me!

Any tips, suggestions or places you can direct me to would be great!

Ive used a Jinbei and Quantum light, ive also used someone else's Elinchrom Quadra's and have slowly come to the realisation that strobes are far more beneficial, at least for my own uses.

The Jinbei lights are grand and you can get some nice deals through TwinFlash or online abroad but build quality is average enough. When my (inexpensive) Quantum light broke recently I decided to spend the main money on a set of Phottix Odin triggers instead of a portable light with battery. It links up to the my Nikon and Yongnuo Speedlights and is also ttl with high speed sync.

The only light I can see that would match the portability of a strobe with ttl triggers is the Profoto B1 with AIR trigger and that is huge money! Of course this all depends on what you want to use these for etc.

    Hope this helps

Hi. Was your quantum flash bought locally? I saw a 300ws on adverts.ie with a battery pack for €330.00.

I bought it from the lads at TwinFlash in Swords, they have a good website. I would urge against it though as the build quality is average. I got 18 months out of mine. A few yongnuo strobes and decent triggers wouldn't be much more.
