Hi folks. Have been playing social golf for the last 2 yrs but want to join a club to play regularly and get a handicap. Want to join ElmGreen as is near and have the option to also play corballis. Question is I know no other members. How easy or difficult is it to join up with other members to play. What is the usual protocol for new members like this?
    Thanks in advance!

If you let the club know that you're joining on your own they should be able to help.
Afaik, Elmgreen doesn't have an online booking system, this is a big negative for you as with one (most clubs have one) you can just log in and join a free slot with others.

Like everything, you'll get out of it what you put in, so make an effort, don't be afraid to tell your playing partners that you'll be stuck for parnters for a while. You'll gather up a few numbers after a month or so.

    Hi All
The best decision I ever made was to join a golf club on my own, I had been a long distance member with some friends but was getting tired of all the travelling. So on my own I joined Slade Valley GC , I just put my name down wherever there was space but at various times at the weekend , this meant that I was meeting different people each weekend. It is important to go into the clubhouse with your playing partners after your round for a coffee and not just fly off in the car!!
It won't be long before you begin to meet members that you want to regularly play with. If you are any good then next year you could play on the Club teams , again broadening your new group of friends.
I would agree with Parlance that using an online booking system is great as you can slot in the various gaps on the Timesheet at times that suit you. If you get a chance check out Diggers Club that play at 11.30 on Sundays in Slade , it is for golfers who are starting to play in a club atmosphere .
    Best of luck
