    Hi,

Just wondering if anybody has had their wedding reception here or been to one here recently.

Currently between this hotel and the Pillo in Ashbourne for our reception finding it difficult to make a decision !

    Thanks,

Was at a wedding there in 2012, standard run of the mill hotel venue. There's nothing particularly 'magical' about the place.

Although, and I'm not sure if this has changed, if you're not open to the idea of your drinks reception being in the hotel lobby then I'd definitely look elsewhere.

Played there last year. Average Hotel. I always thought it was the kind of hotel to have your meeting or conference in. Wedding, no!

I thought that about my venue at first too though!

Same here, played there few times over last couple of years, my initial thoughts were very conference-ey.

Some venues (no matter the standard) always tend to have average weddings due to layout or atmosphere. Some, however, always seem to be great, I will say any time Ive ever been in city north or the pillo, they always seem to be great, so thats a good sign for me.

The pillo has nicer facilities for guests so that might swing it.

    Thanks for the comments.

I've been to weddings at both but about 5 years ago, I think we prefer the Pillo as a venue, but the menu and food from the City North.

I know we could get better venues like the Druids Glen type venues ( both prefer modern hotels), but don't really want to spend that much on our reception, or have a long commute from church to reception.

Pillo. Photographed weddings there. Great staff. Enough spaces to work with.
