Question about graphics card in laptop

What ls the laptop with the best most advanced graphics card and would it be anywhere near the power of the most powerful commercial pc.
I have a Sony vaio sve151d1m and am wondering what's the most powerful graphics card I can upgrade it with

It's not (or almost) impossible to upgrade the GPU in a laptop

Will be cheaper buying a new laptop, than trying to upgrade the graphics card on a 5 year old graphics card with another slightly newer card for stupid money.

A pc can accommodate any gfx card if has a big enoughy power supply. What exactly do you need the card for, gaming, 3D design, what?

Is there a reason why you wouldn't get a PC over a laptop? Laptops are not wallet friendly, nor easily upgradeable, apart from RAM and/or hard-drive upgrades.

Maybe. Just out of curiosity are laptops not easily upgrade able with regards to gpu because of planned obsolescence as the aptop not having enough space physically due to design or is it because they are physically unable to be upgrade able due to the cards being too powerful

Mostly the GPU chip is soldered directly onto the motherboard. In a desktop PC you have a detachable card.(You may also have "on-board" graphics integrated into the MB, or even the CPU)

A laptop is generally a motherboard with everything already stuck on it, with the possibility of swapping out the RAM, or harddrive for one of increased capacity.

The "gamer" laptops will be bulkier, but due to less demand, they're a dying breed.

And whereas the laptop ends up with everything build onto the motherboard, with a computer the motherboard is only a piece that everything is connected to, and is fully upgradeable.

To upgrade the laptop, you have to upgrade an expensive motherboard. To upgrade the computer, you have the ability to swap out the motherboard for a larger version to allow you more things to be plugged in for as much as you want to spend.

ideally you should look to get a gaming desktop pc and if you need a newer laptop you can buy something cheap just for general use and it would still come in a lot cheaper than buying a 'gaming laptop' that wouldn't be as powerful as the cheaper desktop

also with Steam you can power graphic intensive games through the desktop and play them on the laptop on your home network
