    Stupid question i know but its my first time unemployed and tried calling the agency but never an answer

    So last tuesday i signed up for the dole, on wednesday i went for public service card. That arrived today

    Must i wait for approval to collect? I assume I do. If so how long does it usually take. Is it backtracked to my date of unemployment

    Yes you have to wait for notification that there is actually something in the post office for you to collect.

    Did you lose your job, or were you fired or did you quit? There are exclusion periods if you just left your job for no reason.

    Call into your local post office and check this week,your claim will be backdated to the day you first signed on.
