Irish nurses in WW2

    Hi all,

Has anyone any information on Irish nurses who were casualties in WW2? I have come across one figure that says 16% of all deaths amongst British military nurses were Irish, though I cannot find any confirmation of this. Aside from the occasional individual stories of Irish nurses that I have found, I'm struggling to find out anything else. Even a list of the names of the casualties seems to be non existent.

Hopefully someone out there has found a bit more information on these lost women.

    Cheers

I'm reading a book about an Irish Nurse who served with the British Forces during WW2 , you may be aware of it already - only half way through and it probably with not have the figures you're looking for. Its written in diary form and I'm finding it quite interesting - It should still be in the shops as I only bought it a few months ago .

"A very private diary - A nurse in Wartime" - Mary Morris .

Thanks for the response lurker2000. Yes I have read that wonderful book already. I would have liked to have know Mary Morris. She was some woman! And only for a researcher discovered it in the Kew Archives, it would have been forgotten about. Great piece of history and very proud that it was written by an Irish Woman. You'll enjoy reading it.
