Jury Duty - self employed

    Hi,

Hope someone can help me. My husband has just been called for jury duty. While he would have no problem doing it normally, he's currently self employed and working on a 2 month contract. If he left he'd lose that job and we can't afford that.

Can he excuse himself due to the fact that he's self employed?

    Thanks for the help.

Typically yes. Read the paper work that came with the jury summons.

I was self employed back in 2011 and was called for jury duty.
I filled in the form and explained my situation and was excused.

I've been in this situation too. I rang the courthouse and explained things to the clerk there, who told me what to do (I can't remember what forms I filled in).
