I've just got on the train at Limerick junction on my way to Dublin. I've 6 cans of Heineken in my bag and a bottle of JD. Can I get mauldy on the trains these days?

Banned on some trains, not on others. How you know which, your guess is as good as mine!

The only service they've expressly stated it's not permitted on, is the Dublin to Waterford and back.

I've looked through their bye laws before and didn't really see anything on it though.

    Why Waterford in particular?

Some are dry trains depends if something big is on and it will effect the usual passengers/commuters.

    Sure crack them open.
They do on the bus and that's not allowed.

Knock yourself out I would say.

    Why Waterford in particular?

There were a lot of complaints along that line due to Stags/Hens.

    Moved to Commuting and Transport

Please take the time to read the forum charter

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Crack one, if anyone asks tell them you're in withdrawal and that you could have a seizure if you don't get some alcohol into your system. Works every time.

Remember you can relieve yourself in the supplied wc and don't need to use your empty tin.

    Enjoy

Note that it's an offence to be drunk in public. Being 'mauldy' is also fairly obnoxious and unacceptable.

There are published notices that you can't drink on certain trains, specifically the DART and weekend trains on Dublin-Waterford.

"Dry" trains are clearly indicated in the public timetable:

Sometimes one needs to fortify oneself against the stresses and trepidation that threaten to derail us in our well intentioned endeavors. There are hazards brewing up all a round us. Bar none.

A train journey can be a dangerous undertaking.
That other journey, the journey through life can also be a fearful trial. Is there light at the end of the blackened tunnel.

Which of you would deny this retched creature his pitiful mouthful of warm beer
