I haven't worked in over 7 years after having three children in short succession. I am married and living off my husbands earnings. I would like to return to work part time say 16 hours a,week minimum wage. What rate of tax would I have to pay. Do I have a tax free allowance?

Yes, you have a tax credit, the PAYE tax credit, assuming you will be in PAYE employment.

This tax credit is non-transferable to your spouse.

It's 1650, meaning you can earn 8,250 tax free.

Note that earning income may affect any Home Carer's tax credit that you receive.

The income tax rates in Ireland are 20% and 40% in 2015.
