Skoda Octavia Window Problem

Hi I have a problem with my 2006 Skoda Octavia windows. tried to operate the passenger window and there was a crunching noise and the window didn't move. Then driving along, the passenger side and driver side window just become loose and falls down on their own. I try operating the switches for either of them and I get that same noise in each of the door while operating the switch? Anyone any idea what is the problem? Back two windows are fine.

Maybe just unluckly, if you take off the door panel you will see for sure but once you mention crunching sound then to me that is the regulator. They can be got spurious as far as I can see.

Any idea roughly what spurious regulator would cost

    automotoparts.eu

Cable was corroded on both sides. Can buy the repair kit for them on link above. Is alot cheaper than buying full regulator.

Octavia is a bit of a pig to do.
Door card off, You then have to drill out rivets and remove the whole panel. The regulator is fixed to the back of that panel.
The repair kits are good for these. I did one last week. While the whole thing will look an absolute mess inside the door, if you go about it, swapping out cables, it all comes together easily.
you really need large rivets to re fix to car as the holes are big.
You also need to disconnect the airbag sensor from the door panel. If you were to start the car while disconnected, you would need to reset airbag when finished.
I drilled out the rivets holding the regulator to the panel also and replaced those with nuts and bolts. This made replacing the cables very easy.

yeah perfect I got both done for 45euro. Bit messy now I have to say not as straight forward as I thought. Rivet holes were massive. Had to drill smaller holes but put afew extra in. Thanks everyone for your help!
