Would you as a guest expect a toast drink in these circumstances?

    Hi folks,

just looking for some input on the below please............

Our guests will be greeted at the hotel venue with prosecco, beer, tea and coffee for the drinks reception.
They will all have stopped in a pub en route as this is part of the wedding day (we are supplying tea, coffee and sambos in the pub).
After an hour of the drinks reception, we will enter the room for dinner.
There will be wine served at the dinner tables.
The speeches will be before dinner after orders have been taken.

Is a toast drink expected by guests? We arent particularly looking to shave costs but if its not necessary, its a lot of money to spend. Please vote!

Nope. But it would be nice to make sure some wine I left for the toast.

I voted yes because I didn't read the bit about speeches before the meal, and I was thinking about guests who may have finished their wine. But if the speeches are before the meal, then no, I wouldn't think a toast drink is necessary as everyone should have wine still.

No I wouldnt expect it..in fairness you are providing drink on arrival and wine with the meal.

I wouldn't expect a specific toast drink if the speeches are before the dinner, but I'd make sure that the guests have wine during the speeches, because there's usually at least one toast made during the speeches and it would be a bit awkward if people were toasting with water.

We had our wedding with the exact same timeline and included a toast drink.

Exactly, if you're providing wine for the tables and the speeches are before dinner then, no, I as a guest wouldn't expect a toast drink to be included.

Just have the hotel staff try to ensure that wine glasses are full as the speeches start

Why are the poll results hidden? Is it a long drive between church and hotel? If so, then yes I would expect the drink as the pitstop in the pub would be because of the long drive.

See if the hotel will throw in a toast drink for ye. If not I wouldnt be too bothered about it. In fairness its only 1 free drink for the guest but when your paying for that 1 drink for 100-200 guests it really adds up. As a guest if I got a few glasses of wine with the meal thats good enough for me.

We did a wine top up for toasts on top of prosecco and beer at drinks reception and lots of wine at dinner. Didn't do toast drink. Haven't seen toast drinks at last few weddings I was at. Can't say i missed it either way. And to answer your question, I wouldn't expect it! There's a lot of pressure to keep up with the Jones'. What your doing sounds great so don't sweat it!

Tbh I wouldn't do so much for the guests prior to the meal and make sure they get a drink for the toast.

I wouldn't think so, but again tis all about what ye would prefer. It wouldn't bother me either way.. Went to a wedding which was similar without the pub stop off and the wine was served for this. That was more than enough

Why is the poll hidden exactly?

Why have you hidden the poll results, if you are asking someone's opinion surely they can see the results at least?

Mwaaahahaha! I can see the results! :D:p

OP, if you like I can edit the poll so that the results are visible to the other posters.

No, you have provided enough !! Just make sure they have some of the dinner wine in their glasses to toast during the speeches !!

I don't get why it why it matters if the poll I showing or not... It makes no odds. maybe they want to make it visible later on

Hi folks, no particular reason for the poll being hidden - that wasnt my intention. I found the poll interface a little challenging.

I am trying to figure out how to edit it now - I belive a Mod may be able to do so, but not me? I am not experienced in this at all. I'll keep trying.

Its 48 No and 8 Yes.

Thanks a mill for all the inputs!

For me, I wouldn't expect a toast drink to be provided to me as a guest regardless of when the speeches are, if wine is on the table.

Especially with all the bits you are providing before the meal.

Nah, just make the wine on the tables is ample to cover the toast.

Toast drinks are lovely to receive but not an expectation. You're providing drinks on arrival so that is more than generous.

I'm in the 'not expected' team.

    Especially not after everything else.

Would never expect it, but it would be very welcome.
