    Hi,

I have a upvc front door with an old (maybe 20 years) corbin lock that has an external handle and both a handle and 'spindle' on the inside. you lift the inside handle until it clicks to lock the door on both sides. A key opens the outside and twisting the internal spindle clockwise normally unlocks. The problem is I locked the door from the inside as normal but something has broken in the lock so that now the spindle just spins clockwise freely without unlocking.

I have unscrewed the two mounting screws on the inside to try to remove the faceplate but I can't remove the spindle. From google all I can gather is that there should be a small hole which should help to release the spindle but I can't seem to find an other lock similar to my own. There are two tiny holes on my spindle but if you put a small enough piece of metal in there (only a paperclip will fit) it just goes straight through with absolutely no resistance.

    Any ideas?

I've taken pictures but can't add a url to this post yet.

    Thanks
