Folks - I have a 5 year old Tag Aqua Racer automatic which has stopped powering itself (Every morning the watch is dead and need to reset it and wind it).

Took it to Weirs on Grafton St on Friday as I reckon it needs a service (it had a similar issue in the first year but was fixed under warranty by Tag). They took a quick look and agreed with a service as the issue was most likely due to "oil drying out internally". I asked how much would a service be and how long and they quoted somewhere between 500 - 700 euros and it would take 6 - 8 weeks.

Obviously I'm a bit shocked by the price and also dont want to be without the watch for that period. Can anyone give me some advice where I can get it fixed cheaper and quicker ?

Contact Emily at http://watchrepairs.ie. Price for an auto service is €160 which includes reseal, pressure test, refurb etc. Her work is excellent and she will likely turn it around in a fraction of the time that the Tag service center will, unless she has to wait for parts. There are quite a few of us who have sent watches to her and no one has had a bad word to say.

Fantastic, exactly what I was hoping to hear. Really appreciate the recommendation

Given your watch value then watchrepairs is your only option.

I am shocked at that price. Has the unpegging of the Swissfranc caused that increase as 400-500 would have been standard.

Emily at watchrepairs as mentioned, you cannot go wrong. She is a complete professional & also super courteous, friendly and helpful to a fault. Give her a shout, you wont be disappointed.

Hi. I know this thread is a couple of years old now but does anyone have a contact no for Emily or email address. I've a Tag Carrera that needs a service and weirs are quoting crazy money to service it. Cheers
