Dual Booting OSX and Win 7 with SSD & HDD?

    Hey all,

Have a 2012 Macbook Pro thats currently running a 500GB HD and 4GB of RAM. Its doing its work nicely but I need Windows 7 operating on it for running certain software. I have it installed using Bootcamp at the minute and through Parallels. Although I prefer the flexibility of moving from Windows to OSX I need to have Windows installed through Bootcamp as certain software wont run in a virtual environment.

Currently I'm thinking of upgrading to an SSD as my boot drive for OSX at least and installing Windows on the HD in a caddy to replace my DVD drive as I have no use for it.

Does this sound like a decent plan or am I missing any vital information? I dont want to store massive amounts of data on the Mac, but what ever I do need to store would be on the HD.

Basically my question is should I install both Windows and OSX on the SSD and keep my HD for storage or should I just run OSX on the SSD and boot to Windows from the HD when I need to?

    Thanks in advance!
