Avensis 2004 1.6 petrol clutch cost

    Lads,

Clutch starting to slip in 3rd and 4th around 3k-4k revs under hard acceleration. Haven't noticed it in any other gear yet. Would it be okay to drive for a while as I wont get a chance to change it for 2-3 weeks? doing 700 miles a week.

Car has 95K miles done, is that good or bad for one clutch? The missus has a habbit of pulling away from stopped in 2nd, drives me nuts and no doubt is the cause!!

Where would be recommended for getting a clutch done on a saturday in Dublin? Willing to pay for a good job (but not main dealer prices!).

    Thanks.

Cost would expect to be in the region of €350 - 400.

The pulling off in 2nd wouldn't help, for sure.

There's no approx. mileage for a clutch to go, as it depends on so many things. I changed one in an Avensis when doing the gearbox bearings at €160,000 miles and there was probably as many more miles left in it.

Very unlikely you'll get another 2000 miles out of it by trying to hold out for 2-3 weeks and to be honest, I wouldn't be trying if I was in your boots. If you can notice it's slipping, you might do well to get another 50 miles out of it!

I'd say you have a good bit of time if you drive easy and stop the second gear take offs. You'l get plenty of warning before it fails entirely so you'l know when to get out. I drove my focus with a slipping clutch for a good long time and it was fine as long as you are able to be a bit more patient building speed so as to not wear it further.

    Id agree with 3-400.

    Thanks Guys.
Any recommendations for clutch specialists in dublin that open on a Saturday?

2nd gear? Tell her the cost will have to come out of any discretionary spending she might want, hair nails shoes aomethiung like that, kinda like a swear jar for blokes.
Why would she even have the habit? Its not like its easier to do? What does she think the benefit is? Less gear changes?
