    Just found this on youtube

Looks very well. I don't know how well it will look in a rake of blue and blue/cream Cravens but I like it.

The other GSV was withdrawn on Thursday for it's badly needed overhaul.

3185 hasn't been withdrawn from traffic just yet. There is still a little bit of work to be done on 3173; the aim is to have her out for the May Railtour. 1508 however is due into traffic for this season.

Update. 1508 will be in service on Sunday next for the RPSI run to Kilkenny.

Are the RPSI still going to carry on with the overall blue livery or are they changing to something else?

I wouldn't mind seeing a few Cravens in overall maroon and white roof like the GSV.

I imagine the GSV is going to be repainted into blue and white like the other coaches. I think that the overall blue livery is being dropped in favour of the blue and white?

That doesn't look like a finished paint job by any means.

3173 will be painted in a Maroon-ish final colour. The current red on it is not a great indicator as it is primarily a anti rust under coat. The different colour on the van is so it will better fit in both with the Cravens and Heritage sets. Long term the cravens will be painted in the new blue and cream livery.

Now that you mention the Heritage sets, will they ever be on the main line again. I believe there is something to do with new safety regulations that basically has them all confined to Inchicore leaving them with just the Mk2 and Craven sets. I really liked the old laminate LMS style coaches they had.

There are no new safety regs for the heritage set, and there are plans to bring them back into service but don't expect much in the next 2-3 years as there is a fair bit to be done.

At the time the heritage set was withdrawn there was a good amount of work needed on both the Cravens and Heritage set, preference was given to the Cravens as they had better route availability. Now that most of the heavy work on the cravens is done (bar / Diner / overhaul BR van / plus a lot of general maintenance) we can once again look towards the overhauling the heritage set.

It also helps that in the last 2 years or so we have been able to double the amount of regular volunteers in the maintenance team so big props to the new guys.

For those of you that are interested 3173 is nearing completion of its overhaul and should be in service very shortly. Its first public train will be Balbriggan Shuttle on 31st May but it will also work a private charter from Connolly to Greystones on the 29th

That picture is of 3185 which will now be withdrawn for its own overhaul. Despite its outward appearance it has been a very reliable workhourse and will now get the tlc it needs
