Faulty workmanship - Who pays for repair

    Hi there,

I had my ridge tile rebedded on the house this time last year.
Over the last few months the mortar has come away from a number of the tiles.

The Roofer has agreed to come back out today to repair the mortar but I'm wondering am I correct in not offering to pay anything for the repairs ?
I would assume that the mortar should last for more than a year so I shouldn't have to pay for him to fix the roof today ?

    Any thoughts ?

Roofer should stand over his work. After work is finished, thank him and wave goodbye.

Maybe offer him tea but certainly don't pay

    Update:
Roofer arrived last week and spent most of the day back on the roof redoing the mortar. He said that it can not take sometimes and can break off.

Didn't ask for any payment for his day work so all good (I hope)

Regardless of his excuse, he did the honorable thing. I think he deserves his name and number to be published. Fair play to the guy.

We should make a facebook page altogether.
