Electrical help needed for complete beginner

    Hi All,
I am in the process of automating my home using Zwave. I work in IT and love the geeky side of it but I'm having problems with electrics. Our house is about 40 yrs old so the light switches don't have a neutral wire, this rules out using the zwave light switches.
I found zwave lightbulbs for sale in the states but they are 120v. From my ridiculously poor understanding of electrics, these won't work in standard Irish light sockets as they are 220v.
Is there a way around this or should I go back to the drawing board?

Why can't you just buy 230v lamps?

You'll have to bare with me, I'm a complete moron with electrics. These are intended for the fitted lights, hanging from the ceiling.

Edit - Re-reading this, I can't find any 230v versions of these lights.

Yes, why can't you just buy 230v lamps (a lamp is a light bulb)?

I'm not familiar with zwave but I have lightwave installed all over my house without issues

I did look at lightwaveRF but felt Zwave would suit me better, horses for courses i suppose.
The particular bulb I'm looking at is on Amazon, search for LinearLinc-LB60Z, I can't post the link.

And it only comes in 110v.

Sorry, can't help you there. Don't know much about zwave.

You can get z wave lighting modules that do not require a neutral, I installed some for a friend of mine a few weeks ago

I don't suppose you have a link. I know the dimmers don't require a neutral, bit I'd like some on/off switches.
