Time Machine question

Hi! I've gotten a message since my backup disk is full, and the message is basically that for future Time Machine backups, it's going to delete the oldest backup to make room. Which is fine.

But I clicked into a random backup and realised that I'd never set it up to exclude things like music and video folders.

My question is: can I delete a bunch of the larger files and folders from Time Machine backups, without those particular backups breaking somehow?
