    Hi

Just about purchased a house that basically has no kitchen. Where would people recommend to get a kitchen?? Budget would be a key concern but I have set a max of 5k (kitchen is a tiny bit smaller than 6m x 4m)
In regards to appliances, would it makes sense to buy these before or after having the kitchen fitted?? I know Ikea do kitchens which come with appliances but I am a tad bit worried about going down that route

If your getting an Ikea kitchen you don't have to use Ikea appliances, the kitchens are good value but i believe getting Ikea to fit them can be expensive

I just finished putting in an ikea kitchen myself.

    Heres my comments

Good quality. Blum hardware etc. can't fault the basic ikea method system. They accept back stuff for 365 days now too.

If you mix and match appliances , be aware that ikea uses a 20 cm grid so for example if you get a 90cm hood you'll have a 10cm void that will be custom work etc. ovens fridges etc will fit into the 60 cm carcass

I used the mounting rail system rather the feet and that's a godsend. The main issue I have with ikea is they assume the walk is very flat and that no plumbing runs behind the presses. I had to rework my plumbing to run in the kick space.

Good value in general , you get a lots of cabinets for 1k if you mind the price of the doors

Just be aware that the Ikea displays are all well and good, but you can put together the stuff in many many ways. personally I also mod them to create solutions that even Ikea didn't think of

We recently got prices from 7 different kitchen suppliers. A lot I know but several are right beside each other on the long mile road in Dublin. I found Ikea was mid range in price. Mind you, my wife did pick the most expensive door. Several of the kitchen places told us we'd be better off getting the appliances from powercity to save a few bob. I have to say, dealing with all of the various kitchen companies V's Ikea was interesting. No bull**** from Ikea, they obviously don't care what you are buying, don't push you, bullshi1t you, don't try to rip you off. This business of buying kitchens was a bit of an eye opener, none of it is transparent and most of them twist the facts for a sale. We ended up getting the builder to price the kitchen and that worked out a good bit cheaper. His work is good and there's no bull. Check that for an option OP.

I went with In House in Santry and found them good.Came to them with a cheaper quote from Cash and Carry Kitchens and they matched it.Everything arrived on time and was fitted with no hassle.

Recently finished a major kitchen install , DIY job. all Ikea for basics, inc worktops, applicances are Ikea and others , most Ikea stuff is actually rebranded ( or slightly customised ) Whirlpool or Electrolux

for DIY , I don't think IKEA can be beaten, huge range, good quality ( BLUM hardware etc) .
