Signed up to between 10 and 20%. Think closing date is up now. Afaik acc to area manager that 34c/l goes up if you better the kerry base for milk solids

Glanbia are only offering 32c and it was hurried out looks like on the back of news that world prices are rising these past few months ,call me a sceptic but it's never the farmers interest that's the main driver of these?

I cant speak for glanbia. Im just saying what i know. 34c/l plus milk solids bonus on top of that sounds fair to me. We would be losing if milk base price goes above 36c based on our average solids. Cant see milk being above 36c for long periods over next 3 years.

They are trying to match demand to supply and avoid huge price fluctuations and then companies changing ingredient formulations to reduce the quantity of milk powders in products. In effect, to help reduce the huge price fluctuations for both producer and purchaser.

I stayed away from this one, 32.8c @ 3.6/3.3 wasn't enough of a premium over this years probable base price of around 30c, for my liking anyway.

But i do agree with the principle, though.

Aye,the trouble is volatility buggers up fixing prices too because 'experts' are useless at predicting where price and demand is going to go,they are stabbing in the dark.
That's why I've not bitten on any of them.
I too like the idea of guaranteeing margin, but contractually locking yourself into the unknown,it's just too risky.

the 34c base i think wouldnt be too bad, devil will be in the detail, kerry always seem a step ahead of rest to be fair, is 20% max u can fix
