    Hi all,

Boards is having a bit of a shake up and the Chess Forum will be moved to a new category.

The Current Category "Games" will be changed and be only for Computer Games.

The suggested new home for chess is "Recreation and Hobbies"

It was also said that a better place for us might be in Sports

If you agree or have any thoughts or suggestions, there is a feedback forum here

I've previously dealt with a Chess forum move (it came from being a subforum of the Strategy forum to this top tier position where it is now). From the feedback of that move, I feel Sports would be better suited to Recreation & Hobbies. I've already advised as such in the thread linked to by CowboyDreams, so if you feel one way or the other about it, please post in that thread too (not this one, this one is only to alert you folks of the changes ahead) :)

I don't believe chess is a sport however I think it comes down to what other sub forums will be under each category. Ultimately I would like as many people as possible to be aware of the chess forum so they could find out more info which could lead to them either taking up chess as a beginner or joining a club/tournament in the future.

Chess is recognized as a sport by the International Olympic Committee and by many European governments.

Just to chip in here - Dav has now posted in the Feedback thread that he has agreed to move Chess to the Sports Cat and there's no need to contribute further on the topic in that Feedback thread

EDIT: As Sparks was just alluding to!
