Hinge Pin Door Stop

Never seen one of those before, interesting idea, not sure how easy it would be to remove hinge pin though and I imagine the fitting would leave a fair dent in the architrave over time. Also would the hinge get strained over time (Law of the lever) especially when fitted on anything other than a light hollow-core door? In my own house I have cheap rubber door stops screw-fixed to the skirting, two fitted back to back if required.

If you go for it, you will need to get hinges as well, the majority of hinges used here in Ireland the pin is fixed in place and doesn't have a head on it that will allow a unit like this to be fitted. The comment about damage to the architrave is valid, especially if they are softwood, which is also more common here.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

What sort of doors do you have? The reason I ask is if you have solid doors, I would imagine the weight, combined with the sort lever could put a lot of strain on the hinge and frame, especially if you have kids (my two boys don't believe a door to be open unless it bounces off the wall)

All the american hinges have removable pins in them....here the majority of the hinges dont have that tap out pin!

    Hi all,

I bow to your superior knowledge. Looked closer at my hinges. Looks like i'll need to get the bog-standard door stops :)
