Declaration of Performance / CE Marking

    Hi

WRT to BCAR and the Construction Products Regulations, is there a requirement to produce a Declaration of Performance for each and every product used or is a Declaration of Conformity considered as being the same thing under the legislation?

Specifically in relation to electrical products, manufacturers in this field appear to issue Declaration of Conformities rather than DoP's. The Declaration of Conformities confirm CE marking, list compliance with harmonised european standards and european directives but doesn't tend to state actual performance so perhaps this is a slight grey area.

    Any views on same?

CE marking confirms that the product can be sold on the EU market.
DoP provides the information which allows the specifier to establish whether the product is suitable for the intended use.
There is quite a bit of evidence of fraudulent CE marking e.g WBP (Plywood) so be carefull out there.

...indeed: I heard one wag refer to a certain market saying that they were marking the product CE as meaning 'Chinese Export'...... :pac:

Tbh, WPB in particular is subject to some pretty awful practices in some places.....made by hand with a top and bottom veneer, but the middle filled with bark is but one I've come across...

    ahem......

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
