Hi, my sister is living as a single parent with her two children after leaving an abusive relationship over a year ago. When she received a house, she was given 3 cheques in total to help buy furniture, pots, pans, the lot.. She has a key worker who is now accusing her of fraud. The key worker is saying my sister had to inform her when she received her 3rd cheque which was to be used for cooking utensils and general bits and bobs for around the house. My sister had used that cheque for those things, she also has all receipts and copies of the cheques she received. The key worker is now accusing and threatening to report my sister for fraud because my sister did not inform the keyworker she received the 3rd cheque even though she didn't have to informed of the other two. The key worker is saying my sister has been going back to the CWO looking for more money and the likes, which she hasn't. The CWO would have records to show that, I'm sure, right? Has anybody here got experience or insight to a problem like this? My sister is worried sick at the moment. Is this key worker just blowing smoke out of her arse?

If she has spent this money on what it was given for then I don't see any problems there. You have to fill out a SWA1 form each time you apply for SWA payments http://www.welfare.ie/en/pdf/swa1.pdf these will be on file.

If she only went once to CWO filled out this form and got three cheques then provided she has spent the money on these things its not fraud.

Key worker from the HSE? http://www.hse.ie/eng/services/yourhealthservice/feedback/Complaints/HowTo/#how

Your sister should ask, in writing and hand delivered (or registered if by post), to see a supervisor/manager asap and bring all her documentation with her to the meeting.
