I had a medical card & I was allowed for that on my TAX CREDITS CERTIFICATE. It stated "Eligibility to lower rates of USC has been taken into account". I am no longer eligible for Medical Card, what must I do about that now? Another question ! Can Medical expenses be claimed for optical costs ie new glasses.

Did you have the MEDICAL CARD at all this year?

And no, you can't claim for optical costs, other than laser eye surgery

Thanks Gerry. Yes, I have a MEDICAL CARD until it expires end of March 2015. I am working now & no longer eligible so I am not filling in the new Medical Card form at all. But I need to get the USC sorted.

HSE will have informed Revenue of the start and end dates of your MEDICAL CARD (:P:P:P) already, so you shouldn't have to do anything
