Work Night Away

    Hi,

This isn't a huge big deal but just wanted some quick advice.
I'm a girl working for a fairly small company where my contract is due to end in the next few weeks.
Great place to work, young staff, very sociable environment.

My manager told me months ago soon after I started that there may be a role for me there after the summer all going well with my work (which I think/hope it has!)

There is also another guy on a temp contract like myself who I know is keen to stay on too and I have a feeling they won't be able to keep us both on!

So, about 6 weeks after I finish up they are planning a night away with everyone. When I saw the dates initially I just thought oh well I won't be there for that and didn't think any more about it.

However, when the list came around to put your name down I saw that the temp guy has his name on it. He's finishing up the same time as me.

I'm wondering from a career point of view - do you think it will make any difference at all to my future job possibilities with this company if I go or not? I have made a couple of good friends there but I just thought it might be a bit weird showing up when I'm not working there anymore! But now that the other guy is going...

I would sign up and just take note of who is arranging the night out and give them the heads up that you are unsure if you will be working for the company at the time but if you are that you would like to go and that you will keep them updated of the situation.

I probably would cancel if I was not working for the firm but that just me.

Thanks Miaireland, that's what I think il do - put my name down and can always not go!

Just that I know the manager is big into people getting involved and being sociable so if I thought going would help in any way then I would.
