Just a quick question. I have a hedge row which runs along the roadside. It is in extremely poor condition. My sheep could come through this without any hassle. Could I remove this hedge and plant a new or would there be repercussions for doing this under the GLAS which I plan to enter. Any replies much appreciated

Any advisors I heard on this advised against it - trying to plan new hedges where old ones exist = difficult to make them viable etc. Plus you have to have access to both sides of the hedge for maintenance and fence both sides of the hedgerow...so, in theory your only issue would be making it viable..

AFAIK there is a provision in GLAS for restoring old, gappy hedges which might suit your situation. Not much you can do with it at this time of year other than fence/wire off the gaps.
