    Hi all,

Just looking for a new laptop at the moment, Have a budget of around 600-650

I have found two and not sure which would be the better one? One of them I will have two go up north for because its not sold beside me:

    LENOVO Z50 15.6" Laptop - Black

    Windows 8.1
    AMD A10-7300 processor
    Memory: 8 GB
    Hard drive: 1 TB

    HP Notebook 15-r150sa

    Windows 8.1
    Intel® Core™ i5-4210U Processor
    Memory: 6 GB
    Hard drive: 1 TB

I'm leaning more towards the Lenovo at the moment, had a HP similar to that one and i wasn't overly fond of it.

Also what would be the place to buy a laptop? I'd buy both in the shop and online.

    Thanks a million!

What type of gaming are you talking about? I think any laptop in your price range would struggle to run any of the recent PC games.

Ah there won't be a lot of gaming really, just a bit of Skyrim, half life 2 etc. nothing that is too modern or too labour intensive.

I am looking for something similar as well, something that will allow me to play Sims3 and Football Manager, willing to pay up to 900 euro, any ideas?

    http://shop.lenovo.com/ie/en/laptops/thinkpad/edge-series/e550/

After a lot of research and head banging I plunged for the E550 today, I7 version, which is a dual core.
Like the look of the new keyboard and keypad with separate buttons. I have a Lenovo X220 for work which is superb quality, and while this E550 will not be to that standard I think its a very good all-rounder considering the price, with a discrete GPU ( I don't game at all). Downsides are it's not an IPS screen (but has a full HD option) and does not take an m-sata.
Also compatible with Lenovo One Link system so easy to move off the desk as needed with 1 cable to remove.
Not many reviews out there yet though.
Checking out laptops can make one go demented...

That looks good actually, you hardly know if you can buy it without an OS? Can get Windows for free so would save some money not getting one there.

Also looking at getting one made on PCSpecialist, Do you have any experience with them?
From what I can see on this, they are getting good reviews on the stuff they make.

No experience with PCSpecialist, looked closely at an Optimus V based machine but put off by reviews of noise. But all reviews I read point to a good outfit. Stg rate is a killer now but all electronics are going to rise in price as all components are Usd based.

    Lenovo G50-80 15.6-Inch Notebook (Red) - (Intel Core i5-5200U 2.2 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD)

Found this for £428, looks good, but im a bit skeptical of the intel integrated graphics, though for general use I would say its better than the A10 7200. Which would be better?

I'm in the same position, looking for a new laptop

I'd avoid the AMD chips as they are pretty crap compared to the Intel Core series

    I'm seriously thinking of getting the PCSpecialist Optimus V from PC World. The spec is very good for the price;
    - Quad core Core i7 4710MQ
    - 8GB Ram
    - Nvidia GTX860M 2GB GDDR5
    - 120GB SSD + 1TB Hard drive
    - Full HD screen 15.6in
    - Optical drive

I had a look at the laptop in PC World in Blanch the other and, while it is a lot bigger and heavier than something like a MacBook Pro, it isn't actually as big and heavy as I was expecting it to be with a spec like that

I priced it on the PC Specialist site and due to the current STG rate, it is actually cheaper to buy it in PC World

Does anyone have any suggestions of other laptops that would be similar in spec?
