Hi, over the last few days I have noticed a smell of fumes inside the car while driving (2006 Zafira, 1.6 petrol) , any quick checks I can do before garage opens Tuesday ?

To be sure, light a match. If the car doesn't explode, it's more than likely whiskey, or perfume. If it's petrol, there will be no more fumes :p

Though seriously, check around the fuel lines for leaks. It could be a small hole in the tank too. Usually comes in the boot if the tank is damaged. What car is it?

Had the same issue myself a couple of years ago. As Goz83 has suggested, it was a leak in the connection to my fuel tank.

    Best of luck

I had a low-pressure in-line canister fuel filter in the front nearside wheel-arch spring a leak a few years back, that sent petrol fumes into the cabin via the HVAC. That kind of thing happens. Leaking fuel is never useful, get it seen to properly.
