    Hi,

Getting married on New Years eve this year and hoping to head off on honeymoon straight afterwards if as all possible. Have a max of 10-11 days really that we can go for and our budget can be stretched to 3k in total for the dream location (prefer it a little cheaper). Anyone got any good ideas? Who are the best websites and agents to deal with??

I found gohop to be excellent to deal with and the best value. tropical sky also very good. Both cheaper than trailfinders in my experience.

OP I can't recommend any websites or travel agents etc however I would say make sure you do your homework. If you go with a travel agent take all the information home and research, research, research.

Yes whatever info you get take it home and see what price you can do it for. I did my honeymoon myself, got it for considerably less, plus got the exact hotels I wanted when no one could seem to book them. We went to Mexico then New York, all the agents wanted us to go the other way round for more money.
So while you can get great deals just make sure you actually are.

Depending on where you want to go you could book direct with hotels etc.

We stayed here all inclusive on our honeymoon.
We had a tight budget and it worked out very well.http://www.atlantishotels.com/en

We're going to thailand and Vietnam for 3 weeks flights/trains/boats and accommodation for under €3000 all booked independently. Obviously spending money is on top of that...

Oh that sounds interesting. Love to do something similar. Im just wondering will it be wasted going to SE Asia when i really only have about ten days

My cousin is a travel counsellor...independent advice and she's well experienced...probably worth looking into a travel counsellor close to you...

To be honest, it's nearly 2o hours each way travelling... But if you want hot weather you'll need to spend a bit travelling... Tho it's only about 10hrs flight from London to Brasil. It's fairly cheap outside of Rio depending on the flights, great weather, beautiful culture.

Or maybe do a ski holiday given the time of year?

Done a cruise and loved it- used travel counsellors took all the stress out of booking everything- tours, drinks packages, insurance, room upgrades etc: would highly recommend.
I know people can save money by doing it themselves, but by and large for hassle free and that extra security and fall back on honeymoon i'd use a booking agent for at least some of it where possible, unless there is a massive saving on price in which case its hard to argue

I think this also depends on your personality. I love the research aspect of going on holidays so the hours spent on 'the hassle' of finding the right place, checking independent reviews and getting the best price is all fun for me. I love knowing that if the place isn't right, it wasn't from lack of preparation on my part.

And sure there's always travel insurance for the security aspect.

But I do acknowledge that plenty of people would find the research aspect a huge pain and in that case a travel agent would be a good idea.

Just been researching and booking myself I can get to the Maldives for a little over 2k in total for flights and a half board hotel for both of us. Seems like a very good deal. I swore Id go through an agent for the honeymoon so I wouldnt have any stress but they are pricing just too much.
Havent looked up travel counsellors yet though

We are really behind on this. We don't want to spend a fortune as we are probably embarking on a house building project shortly. WE also want to have a fairly chilled out time but would get bored in a resort hotel for two weeks. Anyone know of a really nice villa or small hotel in Europe with lots of good outdoor activities nearby? (hiking, cycling etc possibly near sea or a lake). Budget of 3k or so.

Thats a really healthy budget. For something a little different Id recommend Croatia and Slovenia. Two simply stunning countries

We were in Slovenia already. First holiday together actually and loved it but wont consider for honeymoon. I have been to Croatia also but would consider again.

Our most amazing holiday ever was nz south island last year. If honeymoon is as good we'd be lucky.
