    Gents,

I went to look at a car yesterday, and I like the car. It matches the salesdescription, drives well, everything works. All the body panels look straight, but look at the scuffing on the door. I tried rubbing it lightly but it had no effect on it. Salesman seemed sound enough about it, said there would be someone to come in and detail it before sale. The scuff seems to be below the lacquer, but the surface is very smooth.

Now, this scuff is the only deal breaker for me, is a detailer likely to be able to permanently remove it, or is it possible that it will be 'glossed over' so to speak but re-appear after a few washes.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    BTW: the car is a 2013 Mazda6

It looks like it would machine polish out. But then you say it feels like its beneath the lacquer...if so..it cant be fixed...so perhaps they'll try hide it.

    Thanks Curran,

I'm hoping it will polish out and surely nobody would have put a coat of lacquer over a scuff like that. I'm also hope that if it's covered up I'll be able to spot it easily enough. The finish will be the deal maker or breaker for me though.

    Unlikely, though, you never know!

Just get pictures of it, where exactly it is, etc, and tell the dealer you are doing so, and that if it re-appears that you will expect it to be fixed properly.

It doesn't look too bad and should machine polish out.
