Golf - Player, Game Improvement and Super Game Improvment

I am a 12 handicap golfer looking to change my irons (I am currently using Ping Rapture). I've been doing some research online and keep coming across the terms "Player" "Game Improvement" and "Super Game Improvement" as categorizations. While I can take an educated guess as to what these terms mean, does anyone know is there a specific definition and what category I should be looking at. What are the handicap brackets?

Any suggestions (bearing in mind I love my Pings) on choice of iron gratefully received also. My (perhaps deluded) ambition is to get to single figures.

I see these threads here the whole time, you'll get many recommendations across the spectrum of club brands, really you need to take shots yourself to get the feel, personally I would stick with Ping, their i20's look the biz...

Your ambition to get to single figures is far from deluded if you are currently off 12.

However the terms you see used to market irons is exactly what I just said.... Marketing! Imo of course. Lots of people love the latest fad and buy into the hype around golf equipment. Personally I don't.

If I was you I'd spend that money on good lessons and use your current clubs and you will get to single figures if you do tge work.
Certainly getting new irons won't have you jump down to singles because they are "super game improvers"

Thanks Foreright. I work in sales and marketing so am pretty immune to the waffle Golf manufacturers often espouse. Also, the reason I am changing my irons is my current set are pretty old and the shafts are starting to feel dead.

I also agree that changing my irons will not be the thing that gets me to single figures rather hard work and practice (esp around the greens). That said I'd like to think that a new set of clubs should give me some help

Nothing like new clubs to give you the impetus to get out and put some practice in!

Definitely try before you buy, perhaps google for some demo days. Practice March and April, single figures by Aug 😊. Good luck
