I'm looking to get a combi boiler but finding hard to get info on companies that supply / fit them.

Could anybody who's got one let me know how they find it, what I should expect to pay?

If you have any recommendations please pm them to me.

    Cheers

It would be helpful to know what area you are in for a local recommendation.
I install combi's all the time but I may not cover your area.

Combi's are very efficient and contrary to belief just as reliable as a normal boiler.

I installed one in my own home 2 years ago and I would not go back.
Not all installations are suitable though so a site survey would need to be done.

One thing to remember is, if the boiler breaks down you will have no hot water until the boiler is repaired.

Thanks for the info lads, I'm in Lusk, North Co Dublin.

I like the idea of using only the hot water you need but another reason is the storage space I'll get from the hot press.

What are pros & cons of combi boiler as a replacement of an existing standard boiler and upgrading the hot water cylinder from a "red lagged " one to a "green lagged" one for a client who lives alone in a 3 bed South Dublin 1970's semiD

The hot water cylinder is leaking at the base anyway so it has to be removed.

Having read a few posts here, I see
1: no hot water if boiler breaks down
2: no hot water iof rising mains fails
3: longer pipe runs if boiler is installed a long way from hot taps: issue here as being installed in the futher-est bedroom from hot press
4: no hot press for airing clothes.

A: Unlimited hot water, not an issue here
    B: More storage space.

Quotations are running at c 500 euro less for the combi install.
    Thanks

A combi isn't permitted by the Dublin water regulations unless it has a break tank and a pump.

If you plumb directly to the mains (like you're not supposed to) water pressure drops, even temporarily, you may have a problem with showers. If your house is located at a height above sea level, this is more likely to happen.

I understand that is the plan for the break tank and the pump
